The only negative side effect I have is that it makes me forgetfult, thus the nick name "Dopamax" However, my spouse who has migraines, not PTC, took a low dose of Topamx similar to you and had horrible reactions. Food and drink made her ill, she became dehydrated because she could not keep anything down, and she could barely get out of bed due to weakness. She lost 20lbs quickly (she only weighs 123lbs to begin with), and she also could not tolerate being out doors due to light and heat sesitivity. Her doc kept telling her the side effects would wear off, but eventually it got so bad, that I had to take her to the ER for IV fluids. The ER doc said she was having an allergic reaction and should never take Topamax again. In my really unprofessional opinion, if you think there is something wrong with your body, and your neuro isn't listening to you, perhaps consider a trip to the ER to get your blood levels checked, can you
